It was created in memory of the excellent virtues of a worthy Spanish Dominican
and the wounded officer brought back to a place of safety
On August 21st 1859 he was acting as adjutant of the 2ndBattalion of the 9th Regiment Militia in Cöslin and by October was heading their Headquarters Battalion
engraved in running script with the initials "H
Germany, Wehrmacht. A Wound Badge, Gold Grade Buy Now Ribbon Bar (Navy Good Conduct(Verwundetenabzeichen). An oval badge constructed of gilded tombac, the obverse pebbled with a Stahlhelm in the centre superimposed on crossed swords within a wreath of laurel leaves with a tied bow at the bottom, the reverse plain with a vertical pinback, pin stamped with illegible number, measuring 36. 61 mm (w) x 44. 18 mm (h), weighing 34. 1 grams, and very fine condition.
